Your PIN will be forwarded within five to seven days of your card being issued.
A Credit Union Savings Account as the name suggests is used for saving and pays an annual dividend. You cannot pay out standing orders or direct debits and members can withdraw their savings at the office or at a satellite collection point.
A Credit Union Current Account is a standard bank account without a cheque book. You can use this account to pay your bills through direct debits and standing orders and withdraw your money at any ATM machine.
ATM Cash Card and Visa Debit Card
Depending on your individual circumstances you will either be issued with an ATM card or a VISA Debit card.
Tell me more about VISA Debit facilities.
If you are issued with a VISA Debit card you will be able to use your card to purchase goods and services anywhere displaying the VISA Debit symbol - in the UK and abroad. You will also be able to use your card for purchases online and over the phone – convenient to shop from your home!
Many retail outlets also offer ’cash back’ facilities allowing you to withdraw cash from your account while in store.
Replacement cards will be issued automatically before the card expiry date. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged and needs replacing before then please contact the Member Enquiry Line on 01492 580028. A £5 charge might apply.
If you have lost your card or it has been stolen, you must report it to the ’Lost and Stolen Card Desk’ AS SOON AS YOU ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM by calling 0845 603 8702.
You will be able to change your PIN at any Co-op Bank ATM. This facility might also be available at other ATM machines.
If you have forgotten your PIN, please contact the Member Enquiry Line on 01492 580028.
Charges on your Account
Yes. If you are an existing Credit Union member there is a £2 fee to open the Llandudno & District Current Account. New applicants will be required to pay £5 ( £2 to open a Current account, £2 for Credit Union membership plus £1 minimum savings). Please note that there is an annual fee of £2 for Credit Union Membership.
As a mutual organisation, the Credit Union believes in the idea of ’People Helping People’. Setting up and offering the current account to members incurs costs. In setting a small weekly fee, all current account holders contribute in a small way towards the costs of the account. This enables us to keep additional account charges to a minimum. As a fair and equitable organisation, each current account holder contributes a small fee with additional charges kept to a minimum rather than excessive charges being faced by those who can least afford them. At present each account holder has one free transaction per week, thereafter there is a fee of £1 per week.
Traditionally with current accounts it is those who can least afford them who are faced with excessive charges when they run into financial difficulties. With the Llandudno & District Current Account, while these charges are necessary to cover the administrative costs associated with breaches of the account terms and conditions, these have been kept as low as possible.
Unauthorised overdraft will incur a charge. A tariff of charges is included in your terms and conditions. Accounts can go overdrawn if you have set up a standing order or a direct debit and there are insufficient funds in your account. We will try to contact you before we return any standing order or direct debit. Therefore it is imperative that you provide us with a mobile telephone number. Continued use of an unauthorised overdraft will result in your account being closed
IMPORTANT:
Your Individual Current Account number will be in your welcome letter when you open your account, and on your subsequent statements.
Keep a note of it in a safe place
Paying Money In
You will need to provide your employer or pension provider with the following details:
You must contact the Benefits Agency direct and provide the following details:
Contact the Member Enquiry Line on 01492 580028 for further details.
At present you can only do this if you work for CCBC, Conwy & Denbighshire NHS or North Wales Housing; it might also be possible to set up an arrangement if your current employer is agreeable. Please contact the Member Enquiry Line on 01492 580028 for further details.
Simply request a transfer and we will transfer the money on the same day free of charge.
You can transfer money into your account from another financial institution using a funds transfer or internet banking.
You can arrange to transfer funds from your other Llandudno & District savings accounts directly into your current account.
Simply pay the money into your Savings Account at our main office or collection points and we will transfer the money into your Current Account. Please make cheques payable to ’Llandudno & District Credit Union for <your name>’ Please note that cheques may take up to ten working days to clear after you’ve paid them into your account.
Yes, please request this when you apply for a loan.
You will be issued with a cash card or debit card which can be used to withdraw funds free of charge at any LINK ATM in the UK.
You can also use non LINK ATM machines, however charges might apply.
You can withdraw all your money, but only in multiples of £10. For example if your balance is £31.35 you can only withdraw £30.
If you are issued with a VISA Debit version of the card, you will also be able to obtain ’cash back’ at major retailers at home and abroad. You cannot get cash back if you are issued with an ATM cash card.
Most shops offer a minimum of £1 and a maximum of £50. You also need to check if there is a minimum purchase amount before they will give you cash back. The total amount of your spend plus your cash back must not exceed the funds available in your account.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer cash withdrawals from your Current Account at our office or collection points.
Cheques are viewed as old fashioned technology now, and pose a higher risk in terms of identity fraud and theft; many retail outlets are in the process of withdrawing the ability to pay for goods and services by cheque as a result.
With this in mind, the Llandudno & District current account does not come with cheque facilities.
This also helps keep account costs to a minimum.
You can make an enquiry at our office or at an ATM machine.
Important, please help us to help you
Our Credit Union will be charged by Link for each ATM balance enquiry and each cash withdrawal, therefore we recommend that you use ATM services as little as possible as this will help us to keep running costs down and the monthly fee as low as possible.
You can contact the office for balance enquiries and, where possible, use the ’cash back’ facilities in retail outlets such as supermarkets.
Your money will be paid in to your account overnight so it is ready for you to use by 9:00 a.m. This only occurs once per day, so there will be no further deposits paid later in the same day. Therefore, do not make any further balance enquiries expecting to see any further payments into your account, as this will only incur extra cost to the Credit Union and ultimately to you.
Statements for your Llandudno & District Current Account will be issued on a quarterly basis (or following 25 transactions on the account) without charge.
If you need to request a Copy Statement, a £5 charge will apply.
To request a Copy Statement please call the Member Enquiry Line on 01492 580028.
Unfortunately we are only able to set up individual Current Accounts.
We hope in the future to be able to offer Joint Accounts.

A Direct Debit is an instruction you set up giving a named organisation
the authority to collect varying amounts from your bank, building society or Credit Union Current Account on variable dates.
Many organisations offer discounts to customers who agree to pay their bills by Direct Debit.
To set up a Direct Debit you will have to complete a Direct Debit mandate. These will be available from the organisation you wish to pay (eg MANWEB, BT, SWALEC, CCBC).
Once you have completed the Direct Debit mandate you should return it to the organisation concerned and they will organise collection of the funds directly from us.
You will need the following information when completing the Direct Debit mandate:
